Today we are going to cook a fish stew that children like very much: tuna with tomato.

To prepare it, we will make a tomato sauce and crispy onion. While this sauce is cooking, we will brown the tuna steaks in a frying pan.

Then we will only have to join them to the tomato sauce. What tuna we like rare? Well, we'll just cook it in the pan. What do we prefer well cooked? Well, we will have to have it for a few minutes making chup chup with the tomato sauce.

Delicious tuna with homemade tomato sauce

Ingredients

500 g of fresh tuna, 4 fillets (can be frozen if previously defrosted)
2 onions
2 cloves of garlic
Olive oil
750 g of tomato passata (we can replace it with crushed tomato)
Some basil leaves
Sal Island
Pepper

Peel the onions and chop them. Not too much, because we want them not to cook too much.
We put a drizzle of olive oil in a saucepan or cocote and add the chopped onion.
We hit the garlic cloves and incorporate them too.
Let cook for a few minutes. The onion must be cooked but not too much. So it will be crunchy later. On this occasion, we are not interested in making it transparent.
We remove the garlic cloves. We won't need them.
We incorporate the passata.
Now add the basil leaves, salt and pepper.
Mix and cook for about 20 minutes, with the lid on, over low heat.
Meanwhile, we salt our tuna steaks and flour them. We put oil in a frying pan and, when it is hot, we brown our fillets on one side.
We turn them and brown them on the other.
They don't have to be cooked, just golden.
We do the same with the other two tuna steaks.
We put it in our saucepan and cook a few more minutes. If we like undercooked tuna, it is better that we turn off the heat soon, so that it is cooked. If we like it well done, we extend the cooking time.
